To reduce comebacks on some common front wheel drive transmissions, here are some of the parts we recommend to our customer's in addition to the normal, rebuild kit, bushings, bands, torque converter etc.
There are also many ATRA recommended modifications that can be done on almost every unit. 
For example full time lube, stronger lockup and shifts, etc.
The replacement of hard parts necessary varies on each and every job, after teardown of the transmission and inspection.
On every transmission, you have to determine what is needed to ensure the best quality job for your customer.
The severity of the debris inside the transmission, the age and mileage also play a part in your cooler decisions.
Every cooler is flushed, if not bypassed with an external cooler. Some may also require an inline filter.
Many of the shift / recalibration kits listed have upgraded / replacement parts. Many also have good advice on what to look out for on that particular valve body and unit.

4T80E      The shift solenoid retainer plate on the valve body should be upgraded comes with shift solenoids and plate ( o.e.m plate often bends / breaks ). The boost valve sleeves wear out and can cause erratic shifting / pressure problems. Check the chain closely for looseness.     The forward sprag can cause no or erratic forward engagement.
4T65E      The internal electrical and boost valve sleeve wear out and can cause erratic shifting / pressure problems. The forward sprag can cause no or erratic forward engagement. Check the chain closely for looseness. Make sure the Tcc apply hole in the valve body plate orifice is .030 thousand. New internal electrical is recommended.
AXODE   The valve body boost valve sleeve,  bypass control valve and sleeve often wear out. This causes erratic / poor shifts. They should always be replaced. The chain and all new electrical is recommended.
AX4N-S   The valve body boost valve sleeve,  bypass control valve and sleeve often wear out. This causes erratic / poor shifts. They should always be replaced. The chain and all new electrical is recommended.
4F27E      The 2-4 apply servo often wear out the case. If the 2-4 band is burnt, you should resleeve 2-4 servo bore. All new electrical is recommended.

CD4E       The shift / recalibration kits address many of the modifications this transmission needs. The forward / direct drums often crack, a new drum is recommended. The forward sprag can cause no or erratic forward engagement. The chain and all new electrical is recommended.
A604        The shift / recalibration kits address many of the modifications this transmission needs. I replace the solenoid pack,  input / output sensors with pig tail sensor connectors and new under drive piston as these items often cause shift problems. I always install a new case bypass valve also.
A606       The shift / recalibration kits address many of the modifications this transmission needs. I replace the solenoid pack,  input / output sensors with pig tail sensor connectors and new under drive piston as these items often cause shift problems. I always install a new case bypass valve also.
Acura      I install a Transgo lube kit for 3 shaft styles as listed in the kit. I install  a transmission cooler as needed. The style with a low gear sprag and low gear can look good,  but cause a neutral condition. The low gear and sprag should always be replaced.
Honda      I install a Transgo lube kit for 3 shaft styles as listed in the kit. All odysseys get a transmission cooler and the rest I install  a transmission cooler as needed. The style with a low gear sprag and low gear can look good,  but cause a neutral condition. The low gear and sprag should always be replaced.
55-50SN  The biggest problem I have found with these style transmissions are the 3 pressure solenoids and valve bodies that commonly wear out. Transgo sells a valve body kit that helps with some of these problems. On this unit I sell a new Valve body on all transmissions with over 65,000 miles.
TAAT     The biggest problem I have found with these style transmissions are valve bodies that commonly wear out.  This causes several reverse complaints, Harsh shifts and engagement problems. Sonnax sells a valve body kit ( sure cure, ) that helps with these problems. A reamer tool is required.
 New internal electrical is recommended.
